Who we are…

Carolyn Kalantari is GRC Studio’s owner and operator. She leads GRC Studio’s in-person service across southeastern Minnesota. Before opening the Studio, Carolyn operated Grace Richey Clarke, a window treatment manufacturing company that specialized in woven shades.

Her sister, Susan Clark, brings additional window treatment design, fabrication and installation expertise to the Studio. Susan’s window treatments may be found in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and Elle Decor. She provides in-person service throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey.

Together, they provide remote window treatment consultations to designers nationwide.

How we work…

Our approach is simple:

Designers come to us to take the risk and the busywork off their plates. We handle the parts of a project that take time and invite mistakes, so you can stay focused on the design:

Measuring and installation — done right the first time, so reorders and callbacks don’t ruin your timeline.

Design feasibility — we tell you early whether an idea will actually work, before it’s quoted or ordered.

Options, explained — the real pros and cons of each treatment, so you and your client can decide with confidence.

Motorization — guidance on when it makes sense and how to make it seamless.

Sourcing and ordering — we handle the products and the paperwork.

Timeline management — we track every order and keep you ahead of it.

Problem-spotting — we catch issues before they become delays, reorders, or hard conversations with your client.

A century of craft
"It all started in fun, but now has become quite a business."
Grace Richey Clarke · 1936

Nearly a hundred years ago, Grace Richey Clarke turned a weaving hobby into a name interior designers came to trust for custom window treatments of enduring quality.

GRC Studio carries that work forward from Rochester, Minnesota — the same devotion to getting it exactly right, now spanning the full window: shades, drapery, hardware, and motorization, made to order for the design trade.

The tradition is the same. The craft is the same. The standard is the same.
